Oppo mystery smartphone will revolutionize with a waterfall screen

At the end of last week, we saw an image showing us the glass front and back panel of an alleged Vivo smartphone. This smartphone would reportedly be the first to arrive with a screen/body ratio of over 100%. Now, OPPO Vice President has surprised with new photos of a mystery smartphone.


So far, information about this new smartphone is scarce and only related to the images posted by Brian Shen on the Chinese social network, Weibo.

This smartphone will come with a new kind of "waterfall screen", with its curved side edges at an angle of 88º. It will present a similar design to the images we saw from the alleged smartphone from Vivo.

Is this the first smartphone with a screen/body ratio above 100%?

As we can see in the pictures, this OPPO smartphone seems to have vertical margins. Although extremely thin, they still 'steal' some space on the front panel, making it impossible for the screen to take advantage of all the available front panel space.

However, with this "waterfall screen", the sides of the screen expand beyond the front panel, while still being visible on the sides of the smartphone. Thus, this may be the first smartphone with a screen/body ratio above 100%.

There is no additional information about this mysterious device yet, so it's hard to tell whether or not it's just a prototype. Still, after the unveiling of a prototype under-screen camera in June, this may be the first smartphone to feature this technology.


The OPPO CEO revealed that the performance quality of these cameras was still far from optimal, but technological advances may have happened faster than might have been expected.

From what we can see in the pictures, this smartphone has no notch or punch hole on the screen. Unfortunately, none of the images show us the top of the smartphone and it is also impossible to guarantee that you will not have a pop-up camera.

Will this mysterious OPPO arrive to revolutionize still in 2019?

It is important to emphasize that this information is still pure speculation, based on the information that has been circulating. Having not been confirmed at all, it was believed that the new OPPO could be presented before the end of the year.
