Xiaomi CC9, CC9e, and CC9 Metu Edition Now Official With 32 MP Selfie Camera and Feature Mimoji

The Xiaomi CC9, CC9e, and CC9 Metu Edition are now official. At a conference in China, the manufacturer presented the first three smartphones of its new brand designed to appeal to young people.


At the end of June, Xiaomi announced the launch of a new brand called "CC" for Colorful & Creative. After the success of the Redmi and the Poco brand, with the famous Pocophone F1, "the Chinese Apple" intends to attack young people with smartphones oriented design and selfies. With this strategy, Xiaomi is working directly on the platforms of Huawei's subsidiary Huawei.

These three smartphones are distinguished by an AMOLED screen surmounted by a notch and thin borders. Under the touch screen, the brand has housed a fingerprint sensor. They are powered by a large battery of 4030 mAh compatible with fast charging 18 watts.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 and CC9e come with 3D glass panels and beautiful gradient color. Meanwhile, the Mi CC9 features a 6.39-inch Full HD + AMOLED display. Mi CC9e has lower specifications. So it comes with a 6.08-inch AMOLED screen with an HD + resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels, 19.5: 9 aspect ratio, and Always-On Display.

The Snapdragon 710 chipset brings Xiaomi Mi CC9 to life. This processor adds up to 6 GB of RAM and has up to 128 GB of storage. 

The Xiaomi Mi CC9e becomes the first smartphone to be powered by a 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 665 that integrates the Adreno 610 graphics card with 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB storage.

Meanwhile, the CC9 and CC9e run the Android 9 Pie based on the MIUI 10 with the presence of Game Turbo 2.0 technology.

Mi smartphones CC9 and CC9e have triple camera configurations with LED flash on the back. It has a 48 megapixel main sensor. Then we have another ultra-wide 8-megapixel camera and a depth sensor of 2.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 and CC9e are equipped with 32-megapixel self-cameras. We have not tested yet, but according to Xiaomi, it should be very good quality. This is mainly due to the combination of pixels. That said, it is possible to combine four pixels into one large size.

Users can create animated characters by choosing from 165 types of hairstyles, faces, and accessories. Mimoji can be applied to photos and videos. In practice is what we can do with the Galaxy.

The Meitu Edition differs only in the integration of 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage and a low light portrait mode doped with artificial intelligence and exclusive beauty filters. These additions are signed Meitu, a Chinese application that allows retouching selfies and was bought by Xiaomi in 2018. Apart from that, the smartphone is identical to the CC9. Unlike the other two models, Xiaomi offers the variant in one color, Pearl White.

The Xiaomi CC9 and CC9e are release on the Chines market at respective prices of around 261/290 $ and 190/205/235 $. For the moment, no release date in Europe has been announced yet. Sold around 350 €, the Meitu Edition should remain an exclusive Chinese.
