Positioning:

The company Xiaomi in May 2019 introduced smartphones Redmi K20 and K20 Pro. Called them "killer flagships." A few months later, Xiaomi Mi 9T officially appears - a complete analog of the Redmi K20. As far as I understand, Mi 9T is positioned as a semi-flagship in the medium-high price category.

The
Xiaomi Mi 9T is rather curious. It used almost all the fashionable chips: a fingerprint scanner in the screen, and a self-moving camera from the upper part of the case, and a 48-megapixel main camera, and a Super AMOLED matrix with support for HDR10 technology, and a capacious 18-watt battery.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T version for 6/64 GB costs 413 dollar, the 6/128 GB version costs 460 dollar.

Appearance:

One feels that people who have hands growing from the right place have worked on the design of this model since the appearance of the Mi 9T has turned out to be very advantageous. And this is despite the fact that almost all the phones are similar to each other.

The front panel has smooth transitions to the sides, the corners are slightly smoothed, the sides also smoothly go to the rear panel. I think that designers maximally observed a balance between a strict appearance and a youthful, spectacular design. For example, Mi 9T in red and blue colors looks very nice. But Xiaomi black - normal.

In this case, of course, we are talking about the back cover, since the front side of a modern phone is almost 90% of the screen without any fancy elements.

The power button and the ring around the main camera were originally designed: they were made in one color - scarlet.

Another design move: when the front camera is extended to the side of the lens, red LEDs are activated. During the raising of the "periscope", a sound is heard, moreover, like a Chinese toy. The sound can be changed, but this option was hidden so un obviously that I had to ask to use “50/50”, then “help from the hall” and finally “call to a friend”. As a result, the sounds change in the section “Advanced Settings - Front Camera Effects”. There are 6 of them in total.

Interestingly, the event indicator was also embedded in the pop-up camera.

The front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5th generation. On the back cover do not say anything, but most likely, something no less durable. Oleophobic coating is present on both sides, the quality is not bad. The frame, as expected, metal.

But the weight of the smartphone a little disappointed - 190 grams! In summer clothes to carry such a heavy phone with you is not the best solution. However, it's a matter of habit: many people manage to take with them not only a massive smartphone but also a tablet.

A spoken speaker, a proximity sensor and lighting were placed on the front panel on top. I talked about the dynamics in modern devices in a separate video. Unfortunately, there is the same trouble here: in order to properly listen to the interlocutor, it is necessary to select a certain tilt of the phone relative to your ear.

The volume is high, but without a margin, intelligibility is excellent.

Under the display is a fingerprint scanner. Its speed is average, so it’s uncomfortable to use.

To unlock the screen, you can use the departing selfie camera. But it comes out slowly and not always at the right moment: the graphic key is most often launched.

At the top, there is a microphone for noise reduction and a 3.5 mm jack. Below are slides for two SIM cards in nano format, USB-C, the main microphone and openings for speakerphone output. On the right edge, there is a power button and a volume rocker. On the reverse side there is a separate lens, and a little lower there is a module with two more lenses, next to it there is a two-section flash.

Conclusion: spectacular appearance, average ergonomics due to weight and slow fingerprint sensor.

Display:

This model is equipped with a 6.39-inch SuperA MOLED screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, a density of 403 pixels per inch, a brightness of about 430 cd / m2, and HDR10 technology are supported.

There are AOD functions (here it is “automatic switching on the screen”) with 14 presets, there is an awakening by tap or when taken in hand. You can choose the brightness of the backlight of the matrix manually or give it to the automation, a color tone is selected in the night mode.

When the sun shines brightly, the information on the screen reads normally, but due to not the high brightness, but the large diagonal. Angles display almost does not distort the picture.

Conclusion: a good SuperAMOLED screen with medium backlight brightness, but high contrast and pleasant color reproduction.

Working Hours:

The phone is equipped with a built-in 4000 mAh battery. In my opinion, the model behaves more stable than Mi 9. The Mi 9 can almost instantly be discharged by 10% from just 5 minutes of 4K viewing -video, the Mi 9T does this more smoothly. In idle mode, Mi 9 "eats" 10-15%, but Mi 9T with the same set of applications is discharged by 5-7%.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T smartphone in my conditions works 30 hours - this is about 6 - 6.5 hours of screen glow. More impressive numbers: 4K video playback for 13 hours, FullHD video - 19 hours, HD video - 22 hours, and toys “land” the battery in 12 hours!

Included you will find an 18 W power adapter (5V / 3A, 9V / 2A, 12V / 1.5A) capable of charging the phone in about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Communication Capabilities:

Below are the main parameters:

Wireless interfaces:

Wi-Fi b / g / n / ac, MU-MIMO, 2.4 / 5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.0 (Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus, AAC / LDAC / aptX / aptX-HD / aptX-adaptive), NFC

Network:

2G: B2 / B3 / B5 / B8
3G: B1 / B2 / B4 / B5 / B8
4G LTE 13/15: B1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B8 / B20 / B28
Dual SIM nano format ( VoLTE / VoWi-Fi)

Navigation:

GPS / Galileo / GLONASS / BeiDou

Despite the support of VoLTE and VoWi-Fi, my sample did not work with these technologies. Probably add a new firmware. I’m waiting for comments on this topic: purchase a tambourine and dance around the fire for these functions to work.

The quality of GPS / GLONASS navigation is average: it sees about 30 satellites, at work less than 20, accuracy from 5.5 meters. There is no problem with the NFC chip and technology.

Memory, Processor, and Performance:

Smartphone Xiaomi Mi 9T is sold in two versions: 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. I have 6/128 GB in my arms. The RAM speed is around 20,000 MB / s, built-in - 520/200 MB / s. In my opinion, for this segment of devices, the speed indicators are very decent.

Processor Parameters:

Platform: Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 (8 Kryo 470 cores: 2 cores at 2,200 MHz + 6 cores at 1,800 MHz), 8 nm process technology, graphics accelerator Adreno 618 GPU; Qualcomm AI Engine 4

Brand new, " only baked " chip from Qualcomm, which boasts an 8 nm technical process! You can judge its low gluttony by work time. By the way, there is a version with an index G. It is designed for gaming smartphones. It implements a number of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features borrowed from Snapdragon 855. Also in this version of the SoC, the GPU frequency is increased and screens with resolutions up to 1440p are supported.

In the Antutu performance test, the smartphone scores more than 210,000 points.

When testing for throttling, the Xiaomi Mi 9T smartphone showed the following picture. The first couple of minutes the performance was at the maximum level, then fell by 15%. On the chart, you can see how dramatically the value of performance falls upon an incoming call and conversation. In general, throttling is, but insignificant.

Games go all at maximum settings. There are small brakes in PUBG, but this game even on the flagship sometimes gives out a "gopak".

The overall speed of the Xiaomi Mi 9T is not as high as I expected. This can be felt only after the simultaneous testing of several devices. For example, Mi9 functions much faster, at the level of OnePlus 7 Pro. No, the Mi 9T system behaves smoothly, but the impression is that there is a slight delay between all the functions. As if the processor gives out MIUI kicks every time. Words are difficult to explain - you need to use the phone.

As usual, Xiaomi works with the proprietary shell MIUI Global 10.3.7 based on Google Android version 9.

Cameras:

Immediately bring a sign with the main parameters:

Front-camera:

20-megapixel front camera. Aperture f / 2.2, pixel size 0.8 µm, sapphire crystal and LED indicator

Oh, how easy it was to talk about cameras three or four years ago: one camera, without any bells and whistles, bokeh, and artificial intelligence. Now, in one smartphone you can meet not two or even three cameras, sometimes there are a few five. And about each, you can write "novels".

As you already understood, in Xiaomi Mi 9T there are three main cameras and one for shooting selfies. Typical set: standard viewing angle, wide and telephoto.

Daily photos, as usual, are not bad. Especially if you shoot in 48 MP and edit manually. Of course, people will not do this, but there is a possibility. The dynamic range is wide, the photos in HDR mode are beautiful. In general, here with a color rendition full order, at least, in a good light.

As soon as the level of brightness of objects (dusk, night) decreases a little, the quality of the picture decreases sharply, and on all cameras: a “soap” appears, the detailing decreases. But - it is worth paying tribute - noise reduction works extremely correctly. You can argue with me, but I have seen the work of the noise algorithm even worse.

In the dark, the image loses much of detail - this is not Huawei with night mode.

Zoom camera is normal, I can not say anything remarkable about it. Able to blur the background with digital bokeh. After shooting, you can adjust the degree of blur. Cuts the background quite correctly.

A wide angle in the Mi 9T has as much as 124 degrees. For example, most smartphones are equipped with lenses of 100 - 115 degrees. Due to the wide angle at the edges of the frames, smears are very noticeable. It is especially unprofitable to create night shots - there is absolute "indecency."

The smartphone can shoot video in 4K resolution at 30 fps. The quality is slightly weaker than in Mi9. I was impressed by the electronic stabilization: the picture “sprinkles” slightly, but the stability is simply excellent.

The front camera, in my opinion, leaves slowly, well, or the impression is created, since at this moment the corresponding signal sounds. If you suddenly decide to drag her back, you will have to put some effort. In order not to "kill" the module, it is better not to do this and do not even experiment.

The quality of the photo on the selfie camera is not bad. The only thing that is a little confusing is the high level of Sharpe. The impression that the module is initially weak, and the addition of artificial sharpness, as it were, improves perception. However, on the screen of the phone "samki" really look good.

Multimedia:

The smartphone is equipped with only one speaker for outputting speakerphone, music, and so on. The following lines can be read in the specification for the device: “High-amplitude ultra-linear speaker 1217 Xmax 0.4 mm, external amplifier Smart PA 10V, volume 0.9 cm³”.  From a marketing language, this can be translated like this: a high-quality speaker with minimal non-linear distortions. A 12 and 17 - probably the dimensions of the speaker in millimeters, 0.4 mm - it's still not in millimeters, but in centimeters. In this case, a speaker is obtained with dimensions 1.7x1.2x0.4 mm and a volume of approximately 0.9 cm³.

The volume is quite high, the quality is good, but the frequency response is weak: mostly mids are heard.

The quality of the transmission of music tested on headphones Bose QC35 on the wire. The sound is very loud, the quality is just great. The entire frequency range is relatively flat, perhaps with a slight margin to the lower frequencies. Without wires used Meizu POP. I can say: Xiaomi Mi 9T (as well as Mi0) maximally swung these “ears” in terms of volume. The smartphone supports AAC / LDAC / aptX / aptX-HD, and the music player "understands" WAV / AAC / MP3 / AMR / FLAC / APE.

Impression:

Well, what can I say - another hit of Xiaomi? Really balanced smartphone with all the bells and whistles for your money.

But Mi 9T still has certain nuances:

  1. Slow fingerprint scanner under the screen

  2. The face recognition camera does not always come out in the true sense of the word.

  3. The body is heavy and rather large

  4. The display fades in bright light

  5. In general, it works a little slower than the flagship model Mi 9

Some items may be in doubt, but this is my personal impression.

Positive points:

  • Cute design

  • Great build

  • Frameless screen design

  • In synthetic tests, it scores good points, and the processor does not throttle

  • A good set of cameras, 4K shooting VERY good work time.
