Vivo Nex 3 and 3 5G Presented with Infinity Screen, Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and 64 MP Camera

The Vivo presents a new mobile with a screen that lives up to that aspirational expression of "infinite screen" by showing very narrow frames and pulling curvature on the sides. Thus, the new Vivo Nex 3 and 3 5G repeat formulas in terms of design, leading, even more, to give prominence to the panel.


The screen comes to eat the space that would occupy the physical side buttons, for which the manufacturer has implemented a solution that manages to further differentiate the design of your mobile. With a model for 4G connectivity and another one already thinking of 5G, this is the iteration of this striking family of mobile phones from the Chinese manufacturer.

"Cascade" screen and goodbye buttons

The screen is one of the features that most attracts the attention of these smartphones since we hardly see frames on it. An AMOLED panel of no less than 6.89 inches with FullHD + resolution (2,256 x 1,080 pixels), although perhaps it achieves a certain level of compaction (speaking of these diagonals) with such reduced frames.

Vivo once again pulls its Nex series to achieve maximum use of the front and the figure that promises us, in this case, is 99.6% of the surface used by the screen. Be it like this or have a trick, this is achieved its screen with curvatures (which seems similar to the waterfall we saw from OPPO), with which they also promise a reduction in energy consumption of 7%.

In addition to the surface, what integrates this new Nex is an array of pressure sensors to have capacitive volume and power buttons, regardless of the physical ones. They promise that the incidence of accidental touches or phantom is also reduced, which must be checked when testing it.

Inside these Vivo is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which can be compatible with 5G coverage as in the Nex 3 5G model (the brand clarifies that the model supports the 5G NSA). As for the memories, from 8 to 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage (UFS 3.0) we see in this Vivo mobile.

To prevent heating the Vivo Nex 3 incorporates an induction cooling system that is only available precisely in the 5G model. Interesting also that these phones incorporate dual WiFi antenna with which you can connect simultaneously to the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands of the WiFi, or the WiFi and the mobile network to always use the most powerful, designed for when the mobile detects that the signal strength decreases.

Although we lack the data about the total dimensions, we do know that the volume of the smartphones gives for a considerable battery. This is 4-500 milliamps/hour, with a 44-watt ultrafast load.

The ring for the triple rear camera and a front camera that comes to convenience

What they have followed is that characteristic ring design for the rear cameras that we already saw in the Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition. A ring that surrounds the striking triple camera module, which stars this surface by having a fingerprint reader integrated into the screen.

This triple camera consists of a 64-megapixel sensor for the main camera, accompanied by a 13-megapixel sensor for the wide-angle lens with 117 degrees of field of view. The third camera is a telephoto lens that also integrates a 13-megapixel sensor, so there are several zoom combinations.

Another "tradition" is followed for the front camera: that of the removable module as a periscope. This was one of the main attractions of the Vivo Nex, in a way anticipating all the flood of mobiles that have opted for equivalent systems of OPPO, OnePlus, Xiaomi and other manufacturers. This module hides a 16-megapixel sensor in addition to the flash.

Speaking of the software functions that accompany these cameras, the manufacturer is explained with the portrait mode, promising outstanding results with the Hyper-HDR mode by not losing background details whatever the lighting and with a correct optimization of the color of the skin. They also mention the intervention of artificial intelligence, with an algorithm that brings out what the NPU, the ISP, and the other electronic components provided in the photograph.

Vivo Nex 3 and 3 5G price and availability

At the moment we know the available data for Asia and the Pacific, so we will have to see in the future if it goes to the rest of the markets and at what prices. Vivo NEX 3 goes on sale in these regions on September 21 and can be purchased in blue and black in three versions (one 4G and two other 5G NSA) at the following prices:

• NEX 3 4G 8/128 GB: 4,998 yuan (707 dollars to change).
• NEX 3 5G 8/256 GB: 5,698 yuan (806 dollars to change).
