OPPO K5 Go Official With 64 MP Camera and 8 GB RAM

As expected, OPPO K5 is official the same day as OPPO Reno A in Japan and OPPO Reno Ace in China. It is a new model that bets on 64 megapixels for its main sensor.


The OPPO K5 is a much more premium version than its brother the OPPO K3: in exchange for not having a motorized system for its front lens, it has a quad-camera of 64 MP and Snapdragon 730G as a processor.

The 64 MP is in fashion

The star aspect of this OPPO K5 is undoubtedly its main camera. There are four lenses, something that no longer surprises us as much as before, but what is more special is that the main sensor is up to megapixels: 64 MP to be exact.

These megapixels can combine four of their pixels into one to achieve more detailed and luminous images, or create a huge image in suitable lighting conditions. This main sensor is accompanied by a super wide-angle of 8 MP with an angle of 119 degrees and two other lenses.

OPPO has not given us too many details of these two additional lenses, although apparently, they are two 2 MP sensors intended to improve the portraits taken with the smartphone. One of them is a monochrome lens, while the other is used to calculate the depth and generate the coveted portrait effect with background blur.

"Gamer" processor

For the screen, OPPO has opted for a 6.4-inch OLED panel with Full HD + resolution and that goes from edge to edge interrupted only by the V-shaped notch that crowns the terminal. In it is the 32-megapixel front camera.

Not only does this OPPO K5 live on camera, and OPPO has ensured that it also has a good performance. For this, it has the Qualcomm gaming processor, the Snapdragon 730G and an amount of RAM to choose between 6 GB or 8 GB, depending on versions. Storage is also available in two flavors: 128 GB and 256 GB, both UFS 2.1.

To lend a hand in the performance are GameBoost 2.0 software and Dual Wi-Fi, which connects to the 2.4 and 5 GHz network at the same time to achieve - in theory - greater stability in the connection.

As for the battery, we have a negligible capacity of 4,000 mAh with support for fast charging VOOC 4.0, or what is the same, at 30W. All this by connecting a standard USB-C cable.

OPPO K5 versions, release date, and prices

The OPPO K5 has been officially presented in China in two versions with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and with 8 GB and 128 GB of storage and in two colors: greenish-blue and white. Although in theory there is also a higher version of 256 GB, at the moment we do not know its price. These are the official prices:

• OPPO K5 of 6 + 128 GB, 1899 yuan, about 267 dollars to change.
• OPPO K5 of 8 + 128 GB, 2099 yuan, about 295 dollars to change.
