LG V60 ThinQ 5G Full Specifications, Price and Release Date

This Wednesday (26 February), LG announced its new top-of-the-line smartphone V60 ThinQ 5G. The device arrives with the feature of two screens and more possibilities in video recordings. Check out the details:

Key Features

  • 6.8-inch P-OLED screen with Full HD resolution and 20.5: 9 aspect ratio
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset
  • Octa-core processor up to 2.84 GHz
  • Adreno 650 GPU
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 128 GB of internal storage, expandable by microSD slot
  • 64 MP triple rear camera (f / 1.8) + 13 MP (ultra-wide; f / 1.9) + ToF Z Camera
  • 10 MP front camera (f / 1.9)
  • 5G and Wi-Fi 6 support
  • 3.5mm headphone connector
  • 5,000 mAh battery
  • Compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+ and wireless charging

The design of the V60 ThinQ consists entirely of a combination of glass and metal. However, instead of the metallic finish being shiny, it has a cover as if it were sand.

The Korean manufacturer has inserted Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the front and 6 at the rear. Besides, the smartphone has a drop-shaped notch at the top of its 6.8-inch P-OLED screen.

The company also changed the aspect ratio for the new device. It switched from 19.5: 9 to 20.5: 9, which makes it look narrower. To complete, LG removed the Hand ID - famous for integrating the G8s -, but inserted the biometric reader on the screen.

In the mold of last year's top of the line, G8X ThinQ, the V60 comes with a Dual Screen accessory, which allows the user to use two screens in the device experience. The functionality is aimed at those who perform multitasking.

The secondary display allows you to open two different applications at the same time, or even use one with a wider view. Gamers can still take advantage of the auxiliary panel to use as a gamepad, in compatible games, for example.

8K Cameras and Videos

The rear camera set consists of 64 MP (f / 1.8) + 13 MP (ultra-wide; f / 1.9) lenses and a ToF Z Camera sensor for portrait mode, in addition to a 10 MP (f / 1.9) front ).

LG preferred not to insert a telephoto module, but it promises a zoom between 2x and 10x.

The Snapdragon 865 expands the video capabilities for the new LG phone. It supports recording in 8K resolution at 26fps, with HDR10 +.

Although the function is not unprecedented - since there is also compatibility in the competing family Samsung Galaxy S20 -, it gives one more market option for this type of shooting.

Timelapse recordings - which change the playback speed - can now be made in 4K, in addition to having built-in Artificial Intelligence, to adjust the speed automatically or manually during capture. It is also possible to use portrait and bokeh voice mode to create the videos.

One of the main characteristics of the new flagship is the presence of compatibility with the fifth-generation mobile network. It is present due to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X55 5G modem.

However, depending on your version, the mmWave network of certain operators is not supported. You will only be able to access the 5G network through sub-6 GHz frequencies.

The phone also has the FastConnect 6800 mobile connectivity system, which allows you to use Wi-Fi 6, to have more internet performance.

In memories, there is only one variant option available for the model. The V60 ThinQ 5G comes equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage - expandable via microSD card.

LG still promises a battery 30% greater than the G8X, due to the presence of the 5,000 mAh battery. There is also support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0+, but without specifying the compatible charging power.

Price and Release Date

LG did not go into detail on the prices of its new device, stating that the values may vary according to the network partner. At first, the V60 ThinQ 5G will arrive in the United States by operators AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon. It will be available sometime in March, in black and white.

V60 ThinQ Rear Camera

The rear camera of the smartphone is usually placed on its back and can be combined with one or more additional cameras.

Sensor type

The most common types of sensors on smartphones are CMOS, BSI, ISOCELL, etc.
CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor)

Sensor format

The image sensor format is the shape and size of the image sensor. It is usually expressed in inches.
1/1.72"

Pixel size

Pixels are the basic building blocks of digital photography: they are the individual elements that capture light to compensate for your image. Pixels are usually measured in microns (μm).  Generally, the higher the sensor size, the greater the pixel size, the greater the pixel size. The more light you can take, the better your photo.
0.8 µm (micrometers)

Aperture

The aperture is an opening or a hole through which light passes. Aperture controls the brightness of the image that travels through the lens and falls on the image sensor. The lower the f-stop number, the larger the diaphragm opening is, hence, the more light reaches the sensor. Usually, the f-stop number specified is the one that corresponds to the maximum possible diaphragm opening.
f/1.8

Focal Length

The focal length is the distance between the lens and the image sensor when the subject is in focus, usually stated in millimeters. The 35 mm equivalent indicates the focal length at which a full-frame camera will achieve an angle of view that's the same as the one of the camera of the mobile device. It is measured by multiplying the native focal length of the camera by the crop factor of the sensor. The crop factor itself can be determined as the ratio between the diagonal distances of the image sensor in the 35 mm camera and a given sensor.
27 mm   *(35 mm / full frame)

Field of view

In photography, the Field of view (FoV) depends not only on the focal length of the lens but also on the sensor size. It is derived from the lens's angle of view and the sensor's crop factor. The lens's angle of view is a measure of the angle between the two farthest separated points within the frame measured diagonally. Simply put, this is how much of a scene in front of the camera will be captured by the camera's sensor.
78 ° (degrees)

Flash Type

The rear cameras of mobile devices use mainly a LED flash. It may arrive in a single, dual- or multi-light setup and in different arrangements.
Dual LED
