Nubia Red Magic 5G Announced with 144Hz Display and 16GB RAM

The Red Magic 5G debuts as the first model of the brand to offer connectivity with the fifth generation of mobile networks, also, it brings a renewed design different from its predecessors.


It comes with a built-in fan (15,000 rpm) and liquid cooling, features that can control the temperature of the device, allowing for long gaming sessions. The phone also has capacities sensors on the right, to be used in games.

Smartphone packs with a 6.65 ”Full HD + (2340 x 1080) AMOLED screen with 144 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sensitivity, which should deliver a great response during competitive game matches.

On the processor side, the Chinese opted for the Snapdragon 856 with 8, 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The storage will be UFS 3.0, offered in capacities of 128 or 256 GB.

For the operating system, Red Magic 5G has Android 10 pre-installed at the factory running under Nubia's proprietary interface, called Red Magic OS, which brings special features for games. The laptop's battery has a 4500 mAh capacity and supports fast charging of up to 55-Watts.

One of the differences of the model is the cooling technology that activated during rapid charging, protecting the device from overheating.

A variant with 5G will be marketed in China, with Global fear hitting the market later. The Red Magic 5G should also have a special edition with a transparent back.


Regarding the cameras, Red Magic 5G boasts of a 64 MP sensor from Sony (IMX686) at the rear, accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP macro. The selfies module has a resolution of 8 MP.

For the nostalgic on duty, the company decided to keep the P2 connector for headphones, weighs 218 grams and a Dual SIM feature.

Price and Release Date

The most basic model of the Red Magic 5G, with 8/128 GB version, will sell for ¥ 3,799 ($ ​​541), there’s also a 12/128GB variant for ¥ 4,099 ($585), a 12/256GB model for ¥ 4,399 ($625) and a top of the range 16GB RAM and 256GB storage version for ¥ 4,999 ($712).

The Transparent edition has prices starting at ¥ 4,599 ($ 655) for the version with 12/256 GB and ¥ 5,199 ($ 741) for the variant with 16/256 GB.
