OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro Go Official with 12 GB RAM and Snapdragon 855: Price, Release Date and Key Features

OnePlus has just officially unveiled the new line of smartphones with high-performance specifications, cameras even better than in previous models and the same classic design that we have known for years with new colors very welcome.

OnePlus 8

The simplest model in the family keeps everything that was expected. The OnePlus 8 arrives with the powerful Snapdragon 865 chipset with Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G connectivity, in addition to offering a 90 Hz Fluid AMOLED screen instead of 120 Hz for the more powerful model.

A curiosity remains for the adoption of the slightly different screen ratio in both models: while the OnePlus 8 offers a 20: 9 panel, the OenPlus 8 Pro offers the very specific 19.8: 9 standard, remaining in the middle. It is a small detail, but it should not influence the user experience.

Following the differences between each model, the cheapest variant keeps the same options of RAM with 8 GB and 12 GB but offers an LPDDR4x technology instead of the most recent one that is used by the most expensive model. In storage, OnePlus continues offering the same UFS 3.0 technology with options of 128 GB and 256 GB.

Regarding the cameras, the OnePlus 8 has a 16 MP front sensor that is housed by the circular notch on the screen, and offers three lenses on the back cover, with a 48 MP sensor for the primary camera, a 16 MP sensor with lens wide-angle and an additional 2 MP sensor with a macro lens, leaving aside the dedicated telephoto lens for zoom photography.

The smartphone offers a 4,300 mAh battery with a fast charge Warp Charge 30T that is integrated with the larger capacity battery of the OnePlus 8 Pro, and another point that the manufacturer had to remove to reduce the manufacturing costs of the OnePlus 8 was wireless charging, which it is exclusive only of the most expensive model.

In both models, the Warp Charge 30T technology allows smartphones to have 50% of the battery recharged in up to 23 minutes.

OnePlus 8 Pro

Sharing the visual identity of the simplest model, the OnePlus 8 Pro arrives on the market with a unique visual difference on the back cover except for colors: the presence of an additional sensor for the camera module. The biggest difference here is for the IP68 certification, finally present in a model of the brand, which is not found in the smaller version.

Other than that, the device continues with the 3D front panel curved on the sides and the circular notch to house the same sensor as the front camera, but now with larger numbers.

Jumping 6.55 inches from the OnePlus 8, the most expensive model in the family arrives with a 6.78-inch screen and the same Fluid AMOLED technology, but now with a high rate of 120 Hz instead of 90 Hz and Quad HD + resolution with greater definition and quality than the simplest model.

In addition to the better screen, which made the smartphone break 13 records in the Display Mate's screen analysis, the OnePlus 8 Pro offers improved rear cameras, as the selfie sensor remains identical.

In the rear set, we have a 48 MP Quad-Bayer main sensor, another 48 MP Quad-Bayer sensor for the wide-angle lens, an 8 MP sensor for the telephoto lens and a 5 MP sensor for depth of field data.

With an even bigger battery now marking 4,510 mAh, OnePlus implements the Warp Charge 30T wired fast charging and now also offers fast wireless charging as exclusivity for the more expensive model, since the OnePlus 8 doesn't even have wireless charging.

The hardware remained almost identical: the chipset remains the same Snapdragon 865 with X55 modem for 5G connectivity and the same 128 GB and 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage. The subtle change is to upgrade the RAM that is now LPDDR5, and that continues with options of 8 GB and 12 GB.
