Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro Go Official with Snapdragon 865: Price, Release Date and Features

Meizu presents high-performance smartphones with two extremely powerful models. The new Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro arrive with the smallest circular notch present on a smartphone so far. Before, this achievement was highlighted in the Xiaomi Mi 10 which had a circle of only 4.08 mm, but now Meizu comes out ahead with a meager 2.99 mm hole.

With small peculiarities between the two models, both share essentially the same screen, the same chipset, the same battery, and the same number of cameras, and you can see below the differences and similarities between both models.

Meizu 17

The Meizu 17 arrives with exactly the same dimensions, screen, chipset, battery capacity and front camera as the Meizu 17 Pro. With that, smartphones share details such as the use of the Snapdragon 865 platform with 5G modem to deliver the most powerful performance that Android smartphones support so far, as well as a set of 8 GB of RAM with options of 128 GB and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

With a 2.5D glass panel without curves on the sides, Meizu implements a 6.6-inch AMOLED technology display and biometric reader under the screen for biometric authentication, in addition to the already mentioned tiny notch to house the 20 MP front camera.

Meizu 17 Camera

Speaking of the camera, this is one of the features that set the Meizu 17 apart from the Meizu 17 Pro. The cheapest model in the line comes with four rear sensors, three of which are dedicated for photography: a 64 MP main, another 8 MP with a wide-angle lens, a 5 MP with a macro lens, and a 12 MP sensor for depth of field data.

The Meizu 17 has a 4,500 mAh battery and a Super mCharge with 30W wire.

Meizu 17 Pro

The Meizu 17 Pro comes with some changes in hardware, since the format and design remain exactly identical, as well as the screen resolution, support for the 90 Hz rate, the 19.5: 9 ratio, the Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G and some other details.

Here we highlight the change in memories: the model now has an option of 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM with 256 GB of storage and another even more powerful with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM faster and the same option of 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Meizu 17 Pro

While the battery capacity remains the same at 4,500 mAh and with no changes to the 30W Super mCharge charging, Meizu implements the 17 Pro with the 27W wireless charging support that is not present in the cheaper model.

Another important change is for the rear camera set. Although they share the same number of four sensors and the same main camera of 64 MP, Meizu now implements changes such as a 32 MP sensor for the wide-angle lens with a greater field of view, a telephoto lens that does not exist in the cheaper model and replaces Sony's 12 MP depth of field sensor for Samsung's 3 MP.
