Motorola has unveiled the Moto S50 Neo in China, a mid-range smartphone that boasts a sleek design and a feature set that punches above its weight class. Here's a closer look at what this phone offers.

Immersive Display with a Curved Edge

The Moto S50 Neo takes center stage with a stunning 6.7-inch curved-edge OLED display. This display offers a smooth 120Hz refresh rate for silky-smooth scrolling and a captivating viewing experience, perfect for gaming and watching videos. The display gets even more impressive with a peak brightness of 1600 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. For added scratch protection, Motorola has equipped the display with Gorilla Glass 5.

Capable Performance and Long Battery Life

Under the hood, the Moto S50 Neo is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. While not the top-of-the-line chip, it should handle everyday tasks and even some light gaming with ease. The phone comes with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage options, ensuring smooth multitasking and fast app loading times.

A large 5,000mAh battery keeps the Moto S50 Neo powered throughout the day. While the charging speed is capped at 30W, the generous battery capacity should ensure you won't be scrambling for a charger in the middle of the day.

Decent Camera System

The Moto S50 Neo features a dual rear camera system. The main sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX-LYT-600 sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for capturing clear and sharp photos, especially in low-light conditions. Accompanying this is an 8MP ultra-wide sensor for capturing wider shots and a macro lens for capturing close-up details. A 32MP front-facing camera takes care of selfies and video calls.

Other Features

The Moto S50 Neo comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner for secure unlocking and dual speakers for stereo sound. The phone runs Android 14, ensuring access to the latest features and updates. The phone is also built to last with an IPX8 water resistance rating, meaning it can survive accidental splashes and spills.

Competitive Price and Possible Global Release

The Moto S50 Neo starts at a very attractive price of 1,399 CNY (approximately Rs 16,070; ~$190) for the 8GB+256GB variant. Higher storage options are available, with the top-tier 12GB+512GB model priced at 1,899 CNY (approximately Rs 21,815; ~$260). The phone comes in three color options: Gray, Blue, and Green.

It's important to note that the Moto S50 Neo is currently only launched in China. However, rumors suggest it might be rebranded as the Moto G85 for international markets. With its curved display, capable cameras, and long battery life, the Moto S50 Neo (or Moto G85) could be a compelling option for budget-conscious users looking for a stylish and feature-packed mid-range smartphone.
